First Game Import

Masterboard can import games from four sources: chess.com, Lichess, individual PGN files, and entire folders of PGN files. All methods run through the same import dialog on the Games page.

Step 1: Open the import dialog

Go to the Games page (left sidebar) and click the Import button in the top-right corner.

From chess.com or Lichess

1. Select the Chess.com or Lichess tab in the import dialog.
2. Enter your username. If you have saved it in Settings → Connected Accounts, it will be pre-filled.
3. Choose a date range (e.g. the last 3 months) and select the time controls you want to include (Bullet, Blitz, Rapid, Classical, Correspondence).
4. Click Preview. Masterboard fetches and shows a list of matching games.
5. Select the games you want — use the checkbox at the top to select all — then click Import.

Tip

Re-importing games you already have is safe. Masterboard deduplicates on every import, so the same game is never stored twice regardless of how many times you import it.

From a PGN file

1. Select the PGN File tab.
2. Click Browse and choose a .pgn file. Both single-game and multi-game PGN files work.
3. Click Import.

From a folder of PGN files

1. Select the PGN Folder tab.
2. Click Browse and choose a directory. All .pgn files in the folder are imported.
3. Click Import.

Folder import is recursive — subfolders are included. Deduplication applies per game, so a file appearing in multiple places is only stored once.

After import

Imported games appear in the Games list. ECO classification is applied automatically to any game that did not have an [ECO] header.

Tip

Set Your name in Settings → Connected Accounts so Masterboard can identify your games automatically in analysis accuracy displays.
