OTB Recording
Masterboard includes a dedicated screen for entering games played over the board (OTB) — at a club, tournament, or casual game — directly into your database.
Opening the recording screen
Section titled “Opening the recording screen”From the left sidebar, click Record (or navigate to the Record page). Alternatively, from the Games page, look for the Record OTB button.
Entering moves
Section titled “Entering moves”The recording screen shows an interactive chessboard. Make moves by clicking or dragging pieces as you would in a normal game. The move list on the right tracks the game in real time.
- Use
←and→to step back and forward through the game if you need to correct a move. - To delete the last move, step back to the previous position and play the correct move from there.
Saving the game
Section titled “Saving the game”When the game is complete, click Save. A dialog asks for:
- White and Black player names
- Result (1–0, 0–1, ½–½, or *)
- Date
- Event (optional) — e.g. “Club Championship 2026”
- Site (optional)
Choose a folder to save the game into, or leave it Unfiled.
Click Save to add the game to your database.
After saving
Section titled “After saving”The game appears in the Games list. From there you can:
- Open it on the Board page to add annotations and comments.
- Run engine analysis to classify every move.
